Ponnar Shankar is an Indian epic film adapted from a novel of the same name by M.Karunadidhi(Tamil Nadu Chief Minister).Prashanth comes in lead dual role as Ponnar and Shankar with debutante actresses Pooja Chopra and Divya Parameshwaran.
Ponnar and Shankar , who became rulers of Ponni Valanadu in medieval Tamil Nadu,South India , were twin sons of a Gounder warrior caste couple ,Nellian Kodan and his wife Thamarai.
They are credited with saving their people from an invasion.
